Class Descriptions

Mixed- A mixed class combines several forms of yoga. The poses can move from an easy to a more advanced expression. Modifications and options are given to assist in staying or moving in a pose to one's own level. Students will learn the basic poses of Hatha Yoga, Sun Salutations and more. This class will help you grow in your yoga practice. Good for all levels.

Yin- Yin Yoga is based on stretching the deep connective tissues of the body. This practice is done seated on your mat. The focus is on the hips, lower back and pelvis to open the joints and aid in flexibility. The poses are held for 3-5 minutes allowing the breath to move into the tight areas. This can be a deep and meditative practice. Good for all levels.

Therapuetic Yoga -is designed for those recovering from surgery or injury, have physical limits, emotional challenges as well as those who would like to focus on a particular theraputic concern. This class will include a breath practice (pranayama), meditation, basic poses, both seated and standing, and relaxation techniques. Each month the class will have a therapuetic, physical or mental focus, this could include  back pain, neck, shoulder issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, arthritis, cancer, caregiver stress.  The benefits of this class are increased strength, balance, flexibility, enhanced peace of mind and relaxation. Modifications of poses, props and chairs may be used if needed. 
All are welcome to this class even if you do not have any of these concerns. 
This class is good for all levels.

Basic Mixed- Appropriate for beginners or those who enjoy a slower paced class with detailed instruction, this class moves slowly through poses and emphasizes correct alignment and connection with the breath. A great way to unwind at the end of your day, leave feeling relaxed and renewed. Good for all levels.

Teachers Choice-The teacher will base the class on the energy and feedback of the students present. What are the possibilities? Blends of various styles of yoga: Yin, Basic, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, traditional Hatha or pure Restorative. Be open, be flexible in mind and body, and enjoy. Breathe! Class is for all levels. 

Ashtanga Short Form -Ashtanga yoga is based on a set sequence of yoga poses. In this class we focus on alignment, posture and breath. From here we  develop confidence, strength and stability. This class is perfect for students who are seeking to enhance and build their practice and advanced practitioners who are looking to increase mindfulness, strength and stamina.

Restorative Yin- In restorative yoga, props are used to support the body so that you can hold poses for longer, allowing you to open your body through passive stretching. In this class the teacher will incorporate Yin poses with the addition of blocks, bolsters, and blankets to eliminate unnecessary straining. Restorative classes are very relaxing. The teacher will arrange for the necessary props to be available to you. The lights may be dimmed and if it is chilly, you may be covered with a blanket since you will not be warming up the body the way you would be in a regular class. After you are set up in a pose with all your props, you will hold the pose for a period of time. Although you are supported, you will definitely still feel the stretch. It's a relaxing style of practice that leaves you feeling open and refreshed.

Yoga Nidra-Yoga Nidra is often referred to as yogic sleep. It is a deep relaxation with inner awareness; the state  wakefulness and sleep. You will be guided thru a process which will assist you in releasing tension and finding a sense of peace. Good for all levels.
